Why temperature control is critical in cold-chain logistics

Denizer Transport refrigerated truck

Fresh produce, meat, dairy and frozen food lose value quickly when they are not kept at the right temperature. Even a deviation of a few degrees can shorten shelf life, lead to rejected loads and cause significant costs. That is why the cold chain must remain unbroken from loading to delivery.

The right temperature depends on the product

Every product has its own ideal range. Fresh goods are usually carried above zero, while frozen goods travel at −18 °C or below. At Denizer Transport our reefer trucks carry loads between +4 °C and −18 °C, and the temperature is set for the product before loading.

Pre-cooling and correct loading

The trailer is brought to the target temperature before loading begins. Pallets are placed so that cold air can circulate around the load, and doors are kept open for as short a time as possible. These simple steps prevent temperature swings in the first hours of the journey.

7/24 monitoring and records

Our vehicles are tracked 7/24 by GPS and the temperatures of the reefer units are recorded throughout the trip. Any deviation can be acted on immediately, and the temperature history can be shared with the customer on delivery.
